Joining
in the work of Woodland Ways
Pleasure is Nature's test, her sign of approval.
When man is happy (...and woman too...Ed.)
he is in harmony with himself and his environment.
Oscar Wilde (1856 -
1900)
Woodland
Ways volunteers look after four
areas of local woodland
for our community, you can help too!
Joining
us - see our work programme below
If
you belong to a group - WI, Brownies, Sixth Form or at work have
colleagues looking to undertake environmental activities - we
will be happy to arrange a work party specifically for you. (Min. 10).
You
can play a positive role in preserving our local woodland.
Call
Nick Sibbett on (01284) 723847 for more information. Or you
may email chair
@ woodlandways.org.uk
You are welcome to come and see what we do,
or to come along and join in.
Our
work parties last at most 2 hours, beginning
around 10.00 am, one Sunday
in the month.
You don't have to stay that
long,
and we usually stop for a
coffee.
If
you're still not sure, why not stop by
a
work party
to
say hello and see what we do.
Woodland
Ways membership
form here. Information
for young people here.
Your donation, £5
per household,
goes to support the work of
Woodland Ways.
Tools,
training and work gloves are
provided.
We
place a high priority on ensuring safe
working.
Children
are very welcome, and must be
accompanied
by a responsible adult.
Occasionally
we have social events, such as a trip to another
woodland site or a barbecue at a member's house.
Our
work calendar for 2007
This is now available
from our download page...
As
you can see our activities include tree
planting,
tree
maintenance,
path surfacing with wood
chips,
coppicing - cutting down
young trees to promote
bushy growth and
hay raking.
It's great fun - we
laugh as
we work - and we are helping to
preserve
existing community landscapes
and to create new ones for
future generations.
We get a bit fitter as
we go
and enjoy the opportunity
to learn some new skills too.
Below you can see how we spent 2006...
